Krzysiek Sokołowski - our first guest at the AFA!

The beautiful tradition of meetings at the Academy of the Finest of Arts is a sure thing on the agenda of the Pol'and'Rock Festival! Our first guest will be the one and only - Krzysiek Sokołowski.

Meetings with the engaging personalities within the frames of the Academy of the Finest of Arts are a rock-solid element of the Pol’and’Rock Festival's programme. During the upcoming 28th edition of the Most Beautiful Festival in the World the audience will get the chance to meet Krzysiek Sokołowski, an artist from Nocny Kochanek [Eng. “Night Mistress”]. This meeting will be a bow to the festival’s fans who continuously appealed for the opportunity to talk with the singer of the heavy metal band.

His career began at Nemesis which later smoothly transformed into Night Mistress. In 2012 the film director Bartek Walaszek, who earlier on used the band’s songs in his films, asked for a piece for his newest production entitled “Kapitan Bomba – Zemsta Faraona” [Eng. “Captain Bomb: Revenge of Pharaoh”]. And so the band came up with “Minerał Fiutta” [Eng. “Fiutt’s Mineral”], a song enthusiastically received by their audience. The musicians seemed to enjoy their newly discovered satiric style too. Night Mistress evolved into Nocny Kochanek – a band performing heavy metal music sprinkled with humorous, full of word game, pastiche like lyrics.

Krzysiek Sokołowski studied Applied Linguistics at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. Upon his graduation in 2011, he moved to Warsaw to be an English teacher in junior high-school. He always liked his job as a teacher, and being a musician made him more relatable for and popular among pupils. Nevertheless, in 2017 after 5 years in teaching and just a half year before the promotion, he decided to resign and to bet on one card dedicating fully to Nocny Kochanek.

Noncny Kochanek filled in the niche at the Polish music market. Metal might be pompous or puffed up at times and was in need of taking a deep breath. After all, music is about giving joy.

The patron of the Academy of Finest of Arts at the Pol'and'Rock Festival is mBank. The AFA meetings are hosted by the Onet.pl journalists.

The meeting with Krzysiek Sokołowski is scheduled for August 4, 2022 at 1:30 pm.
