Borys Szyc - the first guest of the Academy of the Finest of Arts


29th Pol'and'Rock Festival will be held at Czaplinek-Broczyno Airfield between 3-5 August 2023. Only 101 days left till the edition starts! The first announced guest at the Academy of the Finest of Arts, an important platform for dialogue with the festivalgoers, will be Borys Szyc, a Polish theatre and film actor! 

The guests of the Academy of the Finest of Arts at Pol'and'Rock Festival are always remarkable people! Since the first edition of the AFA meetings, i.e. since the 12th edition of the Woodstock Festival Poland in 2006, the Academy hosted a number of extraordinary guests - Lech Wałęsa, Monika Olejnik, Anna Dymna, prof. Jerzy Bralczyk, Andrzej Wajda, Maria Czubaszek, Adam Bodnar, and Olga Tokarczyk, among others. 

The meeting with Borys Szyc will be held on the third day of the Festival, on Saturday, 5 August, at 10:00.

Borys Szyc is a well-known Polish film and theatre actor honoured with numerous awards. As of 2022, he is also a film producer and co-owner of the Boma Films company. 

He graduated from The Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw in 2001 and was offered a leading role in a play directed by Agnieszka Glińska "Platonov" which brought him the first award at the XIX Theatre Academies Festival in Łódź. Szyc was then hired by the Contemporary Theater in Warsaw, playing in "Bambini di Praga", "Hamlet", and "The Trial according to Kafka", among others. Currently, he works at the 6th Floor Theatre and Polonia Theatre in Warsaw. 

In 2003, Borys Szyc starred in Konrad Niedzielski's film "Symetria", and soon played a leading role in "Vinci" by Juliusz Machulski. His film career bloomed and brought him numerous opportunities to prove he is a multi-talented actor. 

Borys Szyc is also famous for his remarkable performances in series productions aired on such platforms as Canal+ or Netflix (e.g., "King", "Into the Night", "Forst").

The actor was a nominee for different renowned awards. He received the Golden Lions Award for his leading role in "The Polish-Russian War", and the WFF Montreal Award, for Best Actor in a Leading Role in "The Mole".

Since 2008 the patron of the Academy of the Finest of Arts has been mBank. The AFA meetings are hosted by the Onet.pl journalists.
