Orchestra plays in China

The Orchestra will be 'playing' to help neonatological wards on January the 14th, but the Roan band decided to kick-start our charitable collection the only way they can - rock'n'roll style!

The Orchestra is a worldwide phenomenon - there are over 1700 Collection Centres, which coordinate the charitable fundraiser locally: be it in a small seaside town in northern Poland or overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the volunteers aim to raise money to ensure that all babies born in Poland have equal access to medical care.

The musicians from Roan are great friends of the Foundation and they decided to take the charitable initiative on tour of China! The band, hailing from Bydgoszcz in northern Poland, have won faithful fans in China and they decided to show them a bit of Polish culture by telling them about the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity last year. Their concerts were a great opportunity to share the message of social activism and the idea of helping others seemed to go down very well with the Chinese audience and brought Polish community in China together quite remarkably!

This year the Orchestra will be playing along with Roan in three major Chines towns: in Beijing, Shanghai, and Ningbo.  Jurek Owsiak, the Chairman of the Board of the Foundation will be joining the band on tour of China.

The tour kicks off on January the 6th with a gig in Beijing and will combine a concert, and an exciting auction. The musicians also aim to introduce their Chinese audience to the Polish traditional cuisine and culture. There will be meetings at schools, Polish community get-togethers as well as bake sales and other opportunities to get to know more about Poland.
