Densitometry scanner for geriatric ward

A densitometry scanner allows for non-invasive and precise bone density analysis.

This specialized device has been purchased for the geriatric ward at the hospital, which specializes in metabolic bone diseases caused by old age. The representatives of the Foundation have also taken an opportunity to unveil a memorial board, honouring Nina Andrycz's contribution to the clinic. The actress received treatment at this Warsaw hospital, which has received substantial support from the Foundation - 882 pieces of equipment, worth over 700 thousand PLN have been donated to the geriatric ward at the hospital.

Nina Andrycz has bequeathed 85 000 PLN to the Foundation, stipulating that the money should go towards the purchase of equipment which will be donated to the public geriatrics clinic she herself was cared for until her death. What is more, the Millenium Bank has added 100 000 PLN, allowing the Foundation to partly finance the purchase of a bone densitometry scanner for W. Orłowski Hospital in Warsaw.  The equipment is used by doctors to create images of bones - especially of lower back and hips - in order to check bone density. The procedure is non-invasive, simple and allows for very precise results and it allows doctors to monitor their patients closely.

Geriatric care is one of the most neglected branches of medicine in Poland. The Foundation supported geriatrics 6 times, effectively purchasing over 13 527 pieces of equipment for over 98 million PLN. The Foundation was able to help equip 313 clinics and wards, where elderly patients receive medical care.
