11 tonnes of PPE for Medical Staff Delivered to Poland

Plane carrying 11 tonnes of personal protection equipment for medical staff working on the frontline of the battle with coronavirus pandemic touched down in Warsaw last night.

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity aims to supply medical staff working with COVID-19 patients with protection equipment, which since the beginning of the worldwide pandemic is one of the most sought-after medical supplies, and unfortunately, a most critically unmet necessity. We want to ensure that the member of the staff, who bravely put their health on the line to protect others can feel safe. The charity has purchased 50 000 sets of PPE consisting of coveralls, boot covers, medical-grade protective masks, and goggles and an additional 50 000 face masks. The protective gear purchased by our charity will be delivered to hospitals nationwide once all customs formalities are duly fulfilled.

The shipment from China was made possible thanks to the national scheme "Cargo for Poland" and carried out thanks to the cooperation and selfless help from the team at Lot Polish Airlines. Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner carrying 100 m3 of freight touched down on Chopin Airport in Warsaw last night.

We are grateful for the work done by the staff working at LOT Cargo, for keeping the air transport between Poland and China. Thanks to their work we are able to bring all the necessary equipment and gear to help medical professionals fight the virus. Our expertise and involvement, the great organization on the side of the carrier, and the fact that the government paid all transportation expenses show that working as a team brings about huge success. Once again - thank you!

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is committed to COVID-19 Relief initiative in Poland. Even though one of our priorities is supplying medical staff as well as carers in nursing and care homes with protection equipment, we have also purchased other medical equipment, such as ICU beds, medical ventilators, and heart monitors for almost PLN 36 000 000.
