Pol’and’Rock Festival is not only an important music event, but also a vital social hub to spark conversations on difficult, unordinary, yet significant matters. This is the essence of the Academy of the Finest of Arts meetings and workshops. Discussions on the history and future of Poland and Europe, art, religion, or journalism, in a most friendly and respectful way, are possible only at the Most Beautiful Festival in the World!
One of this year’s guests at the Academy of the Finest of Arts will be Karol Wójcicki, an author of the biggest Facebook fan page on astronomy in Poland “Z głową w gwiazdach” [Eng. “Head in the stars”].
The meeting with Karol Wójcicki will be held on the third day of the Festival., 5 August, at 11:30.
Karol Wójcicki travels across the world chasing the solar eclipses, and spends two months a year beyond the arctic circle to hunt down the northern lights.
When at home, he broadcast the deep skies images live using his home astronomical observatory. Sharing his passion for stars became his way of making a living. He organized one of the biggest event on common observations of the night sky (12 thousand people were involved!) and held numerous other activities to popularize science. He is a regular guest at different TV and radio programmes, and works closely with Gazeta Wyborcza (one of the biggest newspapers in the country). He hosts popular science shows on Discovery Science and TVN Turbo.
He is an astronomy teacher at the Eureka elementary school. In the years 2008-2016, he worked with the Copernicus Science Centre. Currently, he reveals the mysteries of the Arctic to a wider audience during his expeditions to observe northern lights. A winner of the Popularyzator Nauki 2015 [Eng. Science Promoter 2015] granted by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Polish Press Agency.
