Love for traditional Irish music, metal and the spirit of rock'n'roll - these elements gave birth to the Dublin's own band The Scratch, which joins the line-up of the Second Stage of the 29th Pol'and'Rock Festival!
The Scratch is a four-piece band from Perrystown, Dublin, who formed their style by combining the thrilling sounds of Irish folk and the intensity of metal. The success of their first major gig at Rory Fest in 2017 paved the way for the band to tour festivals and big gigs across the UK and Europe!
In 2019, the EP The Whole Buzz was released, as well as the singles Cúnla and Flaker, with a marked development in style and sound. The release of The Whole Buzz further established The Scratch as one of Ireland's best folk-metal combos and one of the most exciting acoustic projects with high energy guitar riffs and dirty melodies!
In 2020, the band toured the UK for the first time, played their biggest gigs in Ireland as well as some of Europe's biggest festivals. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the band released their debut album Couldn't Give A Rats to give their fans positive emotions in a difficult time. The album was critically acclaimed, making it one of the top ten albums in Ireland. The Irish Times and Hot Press gave the album four stars and described it as one of the boldest Irish debuts in recent years.
The band has completed an almost entirely sold-out UK-Ireland tour. In the summer of 2022, the band played at almost 20 festivals in Ireland, Great Britain and Europe. The Scratch also played concerts in legendary clubs, such as London's Boston Music Room or Olympia Theater!
